Steve Spessard is a Partner of WGC and the Founder and CEO of Gore Creek Partners in Vail, Colorado. Prior to the formation of Gore Creek, Mr. Spessard spent 13 years as one of two owners of Asset Plus Corp., a Houston-based property investment, development, and management firm operating on a national basis. As CEO, Mr. Spessard led the principal investment and development activities of the company, and closely focused on sourcing transactions as well as debt and equity capital for these projects. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the company’s transformation from being a local third party property management firm into a regional investment, development, and management concern with over 800 employees.
Rocky Stevens is a Partner of WGC Partners and President of Wellington Development Company. Mr. Stevens founded Wellington Development Company in 2002. Mr. Stevens is responsible for its overall operations including the development and management of real estate assets. Mr. Stevens has leased, developed, managed, and owned both speculative and build-to-suit industrial, office, and retail assets since 1985. Projects include assets in both the public and private sectors. He has developed properties for such national credit tenants as the Veterans Administration, CVS, Starbucks, and Fresenius Medical Corp.
Prior to forming Wellington Development, Mr. Stevens began his career with E. E. Reed Construction. He then spent 17 years, beginning as a leasing agent and then becoming a principal with Amelang Partners, Inc. Mr. Stevens specialized in office, medical, and industrial development, and was responsible for the development and/or leasing of over 1.5 million square feet. Mr. Stevens holds a civil engineering degree from Auburn University.
Mark Seger is a Partner of WGC Partners and Partner with Wellington Development Company. Mr. Seger is responsible for acquisitions, management of the development process and capital sourcing for WGC’s projects. Mr. Seger has developed over $200 million of student housing, land and retail assets. Mr. Seger has been involved in the commercial real estate industry since 2002 and development since 2008.
Prior to joining WGC Partners and Wellington Development, Mr. Seger began his career as a commercial appraiser with Standard & Poor’s and Integra Realty Resources followed by commercial mortgage banking with Q10 Kinghorn, Driver, Hough and Company. Mr. Seger is a graduate of Baylor University.
Nick Gonzalez is a Partner of WGC and the Founder and President of GRC Capital, Inc. a commercial real estate mortgage banking firm headquartered in Austin, Texas. His experience includes the successful closing of over $3 billion in real estate transactions with projects in all 50 states as well as Latin America. Mr. Gonzalez has been providing capital to the student housing industry for 20 years and has successfully closed over $1.9 billion in student housing equity and debt on 75 campuses in 28 states.
His recent experience includes the complete equity and debt placement for Century Square, a 60-acre mixed-use development containing a 250-unit luxury apartment project, two full service hotels, 60,000 SF of class A office space, entertainment, retail and restaurants venues located across the street from the campus of Texas A&M University.
Prior to forming GRC Capital in 2007, Mr. Gonzalez spent over 8 years leading the Houston office of Cohen Financial, and 12 years as a commercial banker with Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase. At Cohen, he spearheaded a 300% revenue growth for his region. As a commercial banker he progressed from a commercial real estate lender originating construction and acquisition loans to running the CMBS office of JP Morgan Chase in Texas. Mr. Gonzalez is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Finance.
